Reference Letter Writers

Applicants to the DOE Office of Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE SCGF) are required to provide three (3) letters of reference from individuals who can provide an assessment of the applicant’s knowledge, skills, and experience.

If an applicant has requested a letter of reference from you, you will receive an automatic email notification from the DOE SCGF online application system (iPASS). Please follow the link provided in that email for the instructions for submitting your recommendation. Only letters of reference submitted online will be accepted.

Fellowship applications will be evaluated against established merit review criteria. You may wish to review these criteria before you submit your recommendation to be familiar with the type of information about the applicant that the expert reviewers will be looking for.
