Host Academic Institutions

The DOE Office of Science Graduate Fellowship (DOE SCGF) Program provides support for students pursuing graduate study and research at an accredited college or university in the United States or its territories in a scientific or engineering field supported by the DOE Office of Science. The program is funded and managed by the Office of Science’s Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists and administered for DOE by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE).

The fellowship provides support for tuition and fees, an annual living stipend, and an annual research allowance for three years. Fellows are eligible to receive up to $10,500 per year for college/university tuition and fees. Once an applicant has been selected and verified their acceptance to a graduate program, ORISE will contact the host academic institution to establish an agreement to provide tuition/fee support.

ORISE will provide half of the annual tuition support to the host academic institution each semester or a third of the annual tuition each quarter, upon verification of the fellow’s full-time enrollment status. It is the fellow’s responsibility to ensure that their tuition obligations are paid in full each term.
